Welcome
to the website of the Dunkerton Community Schools Elementary Principal. The elementary program at Dunkerton begins with
a preschool opportunity. The elementary continues through sixth grade. During the 2009-2010 school year
there are approxiately 270 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Each grade level has two sections. The
preschool program offers three additional programs. The total number of students in preschool is about 48
students. The staff at Dunkerton is caring, professionally skilled, and personally committed to meeting the learning
needs of our students. Educational and support services are available to help each young person be successful.
These services include Title 1, Early Literacy Intervention, LEAP, and Special Education classrooms.
The elementary
students receive art, music and physical education instruction on a regular schedule. Students also have the opportunity
for recess each day. We have a beautiful playground with a variety of equipment to challenge our students. There is
also a lot of green space for them to play a variety of games as well.
The elementary is very fortunate to have
an active PTO. They support our school in a variety of ways. They continue to collect Campbell Soup Labels, Boxtops
for Education, and the Kwik Star Milk Moola. All of these projects help raise funds to support the many activities
that our students have the opportunity to participate in.
